One of my favourite events of the year is the Good Food and Wine Show. This year, my cousin and I were lucky enough to get tickets to two Chef’s Table seatings – Gary Mehigan and Adam Liaw. Both were so much fun!
First, Gary Mehigan, who was joined by 2015 Masterchef Australia winner, Billie McKay.
Entree: Chicken Laab
Main: Prawn & Fish Curry with Okra and Cashews
Dessert: Papaya & Coconut Ice Cream, Sago & Sesame Caramel
What we learnt: Gary apparently gives good cuddles and Matt Preston’s pants are serious business. George is also shorter than Gary.
For lunch, we were treated to food by Adam Liaw, Season 2 winner of Masterchef Australia.
Entree: Vietnamese Rice Paper Rolls
Main: Pork, Cabbage & Shiitake Claypot
Dessert: Bananas in Coconut Milk
What we learnt: Texture > Flavour, the importance of Umami and simple is best.
There were many exhibits to suit everyone’s tastebuds. Notable mentions go to Lychee Gold – a delicious, Australian-made lychee cider, Pana Chocolate and Kez’s Kitchen.
