The Tea Centre

Self-confessed tea addict, I drink around 4-6 cups of green tea per day. One of my favourite green tea blends is from an Australian owned tea shop, The Tea Centre. The blend is called Japanese Garden, a fusion of green tea, white tea, pineapple, strawberry, mallow leaves, papaya & rose flowers. It is a perfect loose leaf tea suitable for all occasions. With ten establishments around Australia, The Tea Centre is a leading retailer of speciality teas. Walking distance from my work, I enjoy visiting The Glasshouse store. Located off Pitt Street in Sydney’s CBD, it is tucked away on Level 1 of the centre, sheltered from the hustle and bustle of city life.

With over 180 varieties of tea available, The Tea Centre appeals to all tea enthusiasts. I have visited The Glasshouse store on a few occasions, once to enjoy an afternoon tea, another for a light lunch and the rest in search of more tea. The store is beautifully decorated to compliment a feature wall of antique tins showcasing a selection of premium teas. It also has a great upstairs seating area which is raised slightly above the top row of teas.

Also on display are unique tea pots, tea cups and accessories for purchase. From traditional Victorian-style to quirky animal designs, there are plenty of options to find the perfect gift or addition to your collection. For my cousin’s birthday I bought her a wonderful Big Ben tea pot which came with two matching tea cups.

Traditional freshly made scones are served throughout the day and are one of the best I have tasted. Light, fluffy and served warm, they are a delicious treat. For light lunches, the menu changes daily offering a selection of sandwiches, quiches and frittatas. Unquestionably, The Tea Centre remains as one of my favourite places in Sydney.
